Staying ahead with continuous learning

At Carbomax, we know that staying up to date with sustainability regulations and expectations isn’t just important – it’s essential. Social and environmental considerations now permeate every part of the value chain, driven by legislation, supplier and customer expectations, and broader stakeholder demands.

With CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) setting the framework for sustainability reporting across the EU, businesses are expected to navigate complex requirements. To meet these demands, we’re continuously investing in competence development to ensure our team is equipped with the right knowledge.

Most recently, our team attended “CSRD & ESRS – How to report on sustainability according to the new EU law”. At first glance, the program seems quite straightforward, but after two intensive days, it became clear – this is just the beginning of a highly complex reality that will shape corporate sustainability efforts for years to come.

Another key focus area is GHG Protocol Scope 3 emissions, where the greatest potential for impact lies. We’ve already mapped emissions within Scope 1 & Scope 2 and are now working on Scope 3, which includes both upstream and downstream emissions in our value chain. Understanding these emissions is crucial for reducing greenhouse gas output and improving our overall sustainability strategy.

But it also presents a challenge given our broad product portfolio and diverse range of suppliers. In addition, parallel value chains may be justified to ensure maximum supply security or to meet customer demand for certain products with unique characteristics.

To successfully integrate sustainability reporting into our operations, we’ve conducted customized training sessions, workshops, and materiality assessments across the organization. This hands-on approach helps us transform reporting obligations into valuable business insights—aligning compliance with real sustainability progress.

The challenge ahead? Embedding these new reporting structures and refining our processes to meet the expectations of CSRD and ESRS. But with a dedicated team and continuous learning, we’re ready to take that next step.
