Next step towards climate-neutral foundries: CASTWELL

We’re proud to share that Carbomax is now part of CASTWELL, an Impact Innovation project focused on accelerating the Swedish foundry industry’s transition to climate neutrality by 2040.

The initiative brings together foundries and key partners across the value chain to develop solutions that strengthen both sustainability and long-term competitiveness.

CASTWELL aims to:
Achieve net-zero by reducing CO₂ emissions and enabling climate-neutral processes
Increase resource efficiency by optimizing material flows and minimizing waste
Strengthen circularity through recycling and more sustainable value chains

For us, participation in CASTWELL is a natural continuation of the work we’re already deeply involved in — from developing carbon products based on biocarbon that support net-zero ambitions, to recycling residual materials that improve resource efficiency and circularity. Just as importantly, it reflects our belief in close collaboration across the industry to drive real, system-level change.

We look forward to contributing to CASTWELL as the project runs through spring 2028, and to helping shape a more sustainable and resilient future for the foundry sector.
