Discussing the future of steelmaking in Japan

The symposium focused on the ongoing transformation of the steel industry, including fossil-free steelmaking, hydrogen-based reduction, biocarbon, EAF processes, slag handling and circular material flows. Alongside presentations and discussions, the program also included visits to steel plants and recycling facilities.

For Carbomax, the symposium was a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, strengthen relationships and continue developing our role in the transition towards a more resource-efficient and low-carbon steel industry.

– What stood out to me was how much practical work is already happening across the industry. The transition is no longer just about future ambitions — it’s happening now, and collaboration across the value chain will be essential moving forward, says André.

As the industry continues to evolve, we look forward to contributing with knowledge, materials and solutions that support a more resource-efficient and low-carbon steel industry.
